The Refresher Medical Certificate is issued after the seafarer undergoes a shorter medical examination, which usually includes a physical examination, vision and hearing tests, and a review of their medical history. The purpose of the Refresher Medical Certificate is to ensure that the seafarer is still fit to perform their duties on board a ship, and to renew their medical certificate for a specified period of time.
